Women's Health Awareness - Mental & Emotional, Sexual & Skin Health

This week is our last blog for our Women's Health Awareness series. Today we will focus on Mental & Emotional, Sexual & Skin Health in accordance to Jean Hailes.

2020 has been a very challenging year for us all, and more than ever we should pay attention to our mental & emotional health. If you experience symptoms like immense sadness, irritability, fatigue, anxiety or struggling with eating or sleeping - tell your doctor about these symptoms as soon as possible.

If you are feeling unsafe at home with your intimate partner and don't have someone to talk to, call 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732)

When it comes to sexual health, a urine test for chlamydia is recommended for sexually active individuals under the age of 30 every year. Even though it does not always have symptoms, chlamydia can affect your fertility. If you have unprotected sex with one or more new partners, speak to your doctor about a chlamydia test and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates around the world. Making sure you monitor the sizes, shapes and colours of any spots you have along with any unusual pain or feelings and speaking to your doctor about them as soon as possible is recommended.
